Tony Martin will be your point of contact if you have any questions regarding the Character Education program. Mr. Martin will be able to answer all questions on meeting times, questions on scripts and etc...
BIO:
Actor, screenwriter, director, producer and youth mentor, Tony Martin spent three years as a featured cast member (“Marcel”) on the hit HBO show “The Wire”. Tony’s entrance into the world of film began with an unsolicited submission of his head shot and resume to a regional casting company. Within three days, he was selected for the role of the Jamaican kicker for the NBC series “Homicide: Life on the Streets” (episode - “Shades of Gray”). His screen credits include projects ranging from Chris Rock’s “Head of State”, Howard University and Georgetown University film productions and local, independent theater groups. An avid writer, he is currently in development of multiple screenplays and television shows with other local artists.
Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Tony was raised in Washington, DC. His family relocated after his father began a position with the National Park Service. The oldest of three children, Tony’s parents encouraged their children to explore different paths, exposing their children to the arts, travel and a strong education. He spent his childhood sleeping under the stars on family camping trips – Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, visiting Native American reservations. This sense of wonder inspired his artistic eye, leading him to photography, writing, and later performing. In high school, Tony started modeling, which further fueled his passion for entertaining. In college, he started Motion Models, where his innovative business sense, along with a nurturing nature and “what-if” mindset, opened the door to build a successful modeling troupe. As a teacher and mentor of aspiring models, he was successful in building a strong client following and in inspiring students to keep reaching for a higher level of professionalism.
One of Tony’s guiding principles is we are indebted to reach back to help the next generation to actualize their potential. He has mentored youth in the summer job program and serves in capacities from Director to Director of Photography for various projects. He providesproduction and artistic guidance to LaCarey Entertainment, a group of young, burgeoning local artists, to launch a new TV show “Laws of the Street”. As a testament to Tony’s support, an adaptation of the show was presented at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium stage – a major feat for a novice, unknown arts group.
Working with A+ Kids as the principle acting instructor, Tony finds resonance in presenting a teaching modality where younger children not only learn the fundamentals of acting, but establish a strong foundation for life. Memorization, improvisation, character analysis, writing, script editing and script re-reads – the fundamentals of acting lead to enhance a child’s reasoning and creativity skills. What Tony learned as a child, he wants to give to this next generation. “The elements of play, creativity, wonder has become so lost with today’s youth. To see limitless possibilities. Acting gives children the tools to think on their feet; to see another world through someone else’s eyes, promoting more sensitivity in how they deal with one another. To understand how to bring balance to being both a leader yet understanding how to take direction and work as a team.” It is his goal for A+ Kids to develop their self worth and connect them to the physical world – not vicariously through a computer or television.

Keith Eric: A+ Kids Assistant Director and Writer
Bio:
Actor, screenwriter, director, producer and youth mentor, Keith Erik spent much of his childhood acting in school plays, hosting assemblies and writing short stories. Keith took a brief sojourn from “the business” to pursue a Psychology Degree, which he received from Bowie State University in 2005. Keith was reintroduced to the world of film when famed Baltimore City youth attorney/film producer, Donna Comegys, asked him to host an Industrial Film for the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center. Since then, Keith has starred in 2nd Shift, which was featured on BET’s: Lens on Talent Showcase and had a one-time role on HBO’s “The Wire” as a media reporter. Other acting credits include: “Saved Folk”, Howard University film productions LaCarey Entertainment’s “Laws of the Street” and local, independent theater groups.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Keith grew up on the eastside of town and was thought to be on track to become a preacher, lawyer, doctor, or even the President. The youngest of three children, Keith’s parents encouraged him to “be better than us…” and got him involved in an array of academic and enrichment programs. All throughout grade school and college, Keith excelled academically: receiving countless awards, honors and other recognition. Somewhere along the way, Keith realized that he had a unique ability to create characters and tell stories (not lies). That realization is what sparked his interest in the performing arts. In high school, Keith’s English teacher’s loved to read his writing prompts and samples and in college, Keith started to pen his first novel for children “I Can and I Will” (UNPUBLISHED): A story about an inner-city youth who has hope and faith renewed in his life through a bond with his teacher and eventual mentor.
In addition to being a principle actor on LaCarey Entertainment’s “Laws of the Street”, Keith also provides production and artistic guidance. As a testament to the group’s talent, skill and dedication, an adaptation of the show was presented at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium stage – a major feat for a novice, unknown arts group.
Working with A+ Kids as the assistant acting instructor, Keith is honored to be able to impart some of what he knows into the future Gabrielle Union’s and Will Smith’s, in their own right. It is Keith’s hope that the participants in A+ Kids will achieve A+ in every facet of their lives: acting, physical health, emotional health, mental health, education, spiritual health, peer interactions… and those unnamed.
